Report of a Kite Boarder in Difficulties

Selsey inshore lifeboat (ILB) Betty and Thomas Moore launched at 5:54pm to investigate a report of a kite boarder in difficulties 1 mile south of Pagham Yacht Club. Pagham Yacht Club safety boat also headed for the reported position at the same time.

The Betty and Thomas Moore arrived at the original reported position at 6:02pm to find that by now the kite boarder was off Bognor Rocks. The ILB then headed to Bognor Rocks and at 6:15pm rendezvoused with the Pagham Yacht Club safety boat who reported the kite boarder was now off of Climping.

At this point Solent Coastguard decided to intercept the kite boarder by launching Littlehampton Lifeboat who caught up with the kite boarder just outside Littlehampton Harbour. The kite boarder was perfectly alright and in fact heading for Worthing!

All units were then stood down so Betty and Thomas Moore escorted Pagham Y.C. safety boat back to Pagham and finally at 6:46pm was released to return to station arriving back at 6:55pm. The ILB was rehoused straight away and made ready for service once more at 8:15pm.
