Launched to Assist Broken Down Speedboat

Selsey inshore lifeboat 'Betty and Thomas Moore' launched at 15:50 to assist a broken down speedboat, drifting with four persons on board approximately 400 yards southeast of the lifeboat station.

The lifeboat was quickly on scene at 15:52 and passed a towline to the casualty. The speedboat and its occupants were then towed back to the launching ramp at East Beach where it was safely beached at 16:04.

At 16:07 the ILB departed to return to station arriving back at 16:20, rehoused straight away and was ready for service once more at 16:45.

N.B. the photo was taken by Julian Kirkman-Page who was kayaking at the time of the rescue. Julian recently moved to Selsey with his wife, Lolly, and took part in this year's Raft Race on Launch Day with the 'Flying Fishers' raft which came fourth for best-dressed raft.
