The crew were paged at 4.23 p.m. on Thursday 26th February 2015 after the yacht 'Moon Tiger' called Solent Coastguard reporting that their engine was overheating. They were towing another yacht called 'Third Love and both vessels had one person on board.

The Tyne class Lifeboat 'Voluntary Worker' launched at 4.30 p.m. and at 4.47 p.m. arrived on scene with the two yachts 3 miles west of Selsey bill. The yachts were on passage from Littlehampton to Chichester Harbour. The weather on scene was wind westerly 4, slight to moderate sea state, in sunshine with showers.

After confirming that the two persons on the vessels were both well a line was passed to 'Moon Tiger' and a tow was established between the Lifeboat and the two yachts. At 5.04 p.m. a course was set for Chichester Harbour and the tandem tow of both vessels commenced.

During the passage the Coxswain requested the attendance of the RNLI volunteers at Hayling Island; the Atlantic 85 being required to take 'Third Love' under tow close to the harbour.

At 5.42 p.m. the entrance to the harbour was reached and at 6.10 p.m. Selsey Lifeboat berthed 'Moon Tiger' safely alongside in Sparkes Marina, closely followed by Hayling Lifeboat with 'Third Love'.

At 6.25 p.m. Selsey Lifeboat departed Sparkes Marina to return to Selsey. The Lifeboat was rehoused by 7.25 p.m. and refuelled, washed down and made ready for the next call by 8.00 p.m.

CREW: Willy Pledger (Coxswain), Rob Archibald (2nd Coxswain), Geoff Mellett (Mechanic), Max Gilligan, Dave Lamdin, Steve Somner and Max Wiseman.

Both of these yachts were towed into Littlehampton Harbour on Saturday 21st February 2015 by Selsey and Littlehampton Lifeboats.
