Selsey RNLI Lifeboat Launches After Reports of a Vessel Drifting

The Inshore Lifeboat was requested to launch by the UK Coastguard at 2.46 p.m. on Thursday 14th April 2016. They had received reports of a vessel possibly in trouble with three people in the water half a mile south of the Lifeboat station.

The Inshore Lifeboat, 'Betty and Thomas Moore', with a crew of three volunteers, proceeded to the area and found an upturned catamaran and no persons in the water. The weather on scene was wind calm, sea state smooth in sunshine with good visibility.

After describing the boat to the Coastguard they believed it to be a vessel known to them that had drifted from Chichester Harbour yesterday. 'Betty and Thomas Moore' was stood down and returned to station arriving back at 3.20 p.m. and rehoused straight away.

CREW: Gary Pearce (Helmsman), Rob Archibald and John Reeves.
