The volunteer crew at Selsey were paged at 11.44 a.m. on Tuesday 26th April 2016 by the UK Coastguards. The inshore Lifeboat was requested to launch after a member of the public reported that two ladies and three dogs appeared to be cut off by the tide at Pagham Harbour.
'Betty and Thomas Moore' launched at 11.52 a.m. and made best speed to the area around the entrance to the harbour. On arrival at 12.04 p.m. no persons could be seen on the shingle spit and so the Lifeboat headed to the shore where the first informant made themselves known and reported that the casualties had made it to safety unaided.
After reporting this to the UK Coastguards both the Lifeboat and Selsey Coastguard mobile unit were stood down at 12.15 p.m. to return to station with the Lifeboat rehousing at 12.30 p.m.
The weather on scene today was wind force 2-3 south westerly sea state moderate in hail showers.
CREW: Colin Pullenger (Helmsman), James Albery and Max Wiseman.
