Selsey RNLI Inshore Lifeboat Launched to Assist with Mud Rescue

The D Class inshore Lifeboat (ILB) launched at 9.29 a.m. on Saturday 30th April to assist Selsey Coastguard rescue team with a mud rescue.

The team had been called to the Medmerry Nature Reserve after reports of a person stuck in the mud with a rising tide. The ILB arrived on scene just as the person was released from the mud by two of the Selsey Coastguard team who had waded out to the casualty with their raft. The ILB stayed on scene until the casualty had been recovered to safety.

Portsmouth Coastguard rescue team, West Sussex Fire and Rescue, and South East Coast Ambulance were also on scene if required. The ILB returned to station at 9.52 a.m. and was recovered straight away.
