Many Thanks to those who came to help, see and/or worked the station at GB4SLB Selsey Lifeboats over the weekend of 11th - 12th August.
Nice to see crew members popping in each year to see how were are getting on; think they must be trying to work out why we do it! At least there is a reason for what they do, but then the more people that know about the RNLI and lifeboats the better.
Atmospheric conditions were not the best with a couple of blank spots so transmitting hours were slightly less overall than last year.
Last year a total of 391 contacts were made and taking into account that conditions this year compared with last year were not so good, this year ........ Drum Roll - we made exactly 400 and we thought we were struggling most of the time!!
Next year owing to the station being redeveloped not sure we will be in the same spot as the compound it seems it will not be there!
As I am a boathouse attendant at Selsey I will be keeping an eye on a site for next year's station set up; might be smaller but if we can we will be there or somewhere close!!
Myself (M6PAP) and Pete (G4LKW) did have a chance to see the lifeboat launch/display this year, our bi/tri-lingual man (Edmond M0MNG) took over the station while we were doing that.
Must say thank you to Coast Campers (Barnham) for the loan of a camper van for the weekend. It made our living a bit easier; just having something like a fridge and a comfy seat away from it all makes all the difference.
Station run by members of Worthing and District Radio Club using the club's equipment.
